Jaqueline Fumero is our spotlight designer for this week, 10/17/2022. Fumero, a Cuban born fashion designer, got her start in 2003 with her own swimwear collection. Since then, she has only taken off in terms of popularity, with a spot in the top five contemporary Cuban designers on Jetset Times. Moreover, another reason why she is this week's spotlight is because of her mission to preserve and promote Cuba's legacy throughout her designs. In fact, because of her vision and efforts to represent Cuba's tradition and beauty through art and fashion, she earned a Prestigious International Crafts Fair (FIART) prize in 2011 for her dedication to the arts and craftmanship. Today, Fumero focuses on swimwear, resort, and evening wear, which have been displayed not only in Cuba, but globally as well. Her style can best be described as contemporary, elegant, and versatile, channeling the island of Cuba's natural beauty and serenity. With that being said, these clothes are made for the modern woman looking to channel the elegance and sensuality of the island and its beautiful woman.

                                  Jaqueline Fumero: Resort 2017 Collection

1. For this look, Fumero created a beautiful golden sheer jumpsuit, embellished with golden flowers all throughout the body, including one on the shoulder. It's truly elegant and youthful and mimics the golden sunsets and floral life of Cuba.

2. For this outfit, Fumero created a sheer swim cover-up, adorned with white flowers that shine on the hem. Another nod to the floral life of Cuba, perfect for the summer heat.

3. A another version of the cover-up, this shorter dress continues Fumero's use of sheer fabrics for the heat, but this time, includes the flowers in a bigger scale on the hem and all throughout the body. It is a perfect combination of sophistication and swimwear combined.

4. Fir this look, Fumero uses a stronger color, magenta, with floral designs on the hem and upper body. Again, a strong call out to the exotic plant life of Cuba, this time, with a splash of color, thus making it more vibrant and exciting.

5. In contrast to the white and magenta, Fumero takes on a different approach for this look, black, with white floral designs all throughout the body in horizonal rows. Furthermore, this look continues with the sheer element, perfect for the heat, with a touch of a youthful appeal.

6. Utilizing bright colors once again, Fumero creates two interesting looks, one in orange and one in a darker shade of yellow to light orange. The orange jumpsuit is very elegant, with a floral draping from the upper portion of the body, while the other outfit, a romper type, is more casual, with hints of sophistication. This is in terms of the beautiful floral prints on the sleeves and lower portion of the romper.

7. For this look, this outfit comes with a three-tiered skirt, sinched under the bust, with floral designs on the upper portion of the body. The red color makes for a powerful appearance and works well the golden flowers. Overall, it's an interesting silhouette and a beautiful reference to the exotic flowers of Cuba.

8. Utilizing black once again, this sheer dress is very modern and intricate, with golden floral designs on the upper portion of the body. Furthermore, the black and yellow work well to create the effect of elegance and modernity, all while representing Cuba's nature and plant life.

9. A different take in comparison to her other garments, Fumero uses a bright palette of pinks and blues to create this interesting one-piece outfit with a skirt. The pink on top of the blue works well to add a splash of color, with the blue representing the beautiful oceans and the pink representing flowers. This is in addition to the floral art print on the upper portion of the body. Overall, it's a very fun and unique look.

10. For this final look, Fumero's use of orange helps to make this outfit pop, apart from the golden floral embellishments on the upper part of the body. Furthermore, the draping of the upper piece is beautifully executed, right down to the sleeve, making this an exceptional example of Fumero's craftsmanship.
